About Oman

Oman is the oldest continuously independent state in the Arab world and offers a great mix of natural wealth, traditional values, and modern infrastructure. Expatriates form a major part of the population and visitors are frequent from neighboring countries. Hence the need for air ambulance services, including repatriation and chartered flights are not infrequent. Omani nationals also travel abroad for advanced healthcare services, including to India and Europe.

Muscat International Airport

Muscat International Airport (IATA: MCT, ICAO: OOMS), formerly Seeb International Airport, is the main international airport in Oman and is located in Seeb, 32 km from the old city and capital Muscat within the Muscat metropolitan area. The airport serves as the hub for flag carrier Oman Air and Oman’s first budget airline Salam Air, and features flights to several regional destinations as well as some intercontinental services to Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Tourism Destination

Middle eastern and Arab citizens, including Omanis who are residing outside of Oman, represent the highest ratio of all tourists visiting Oman, estimated to be 48 percent. The second highest number of visitors comes from other Asian countries, which account for 17 percent of the total number of visitors. Healthcare facilities are increasingly growing in the country with over 60 hospitals and 900 medical centers.

Healthcare Services in Oman

Omani hospitals, medical centers, dispensaries, and clinics, include those managed by the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Defence, one university hospital, and one hospital for the Royal Oman Police. The Omani Ministry of Health has established standards, policies, and funding for the expansion of public healthcare facilities in Oman.
